Roaming the Mind Through Forms
黄运长 1993 年生于江西赣州，先后毕业于鲁迅美术学院本科、中央美术学院雕塑硕士，现定居北京，频繁参与国内外艺术博览会、国际雕塑营与美术馆展览，举办多场个人及双人展，作品广受知名人士与导演收藏，还为戛纳获奖影片《狗阵》打造联名雕塑衍生品。
Born in Ganzhou, Jiangxi in 1993, Huang Yunchang earned his bachelor’s degree from Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts and master’s degree in Sculpture from Central Academy of Fine Arts. Based in Beijing, he has taken part in numerous domestic and international art fairs, sculpture residencies and museum exhibitions, and held several solo and joint shows. His works are collected by celebrities and film directors, and he created collaborative sculptures for the Cannes-awarded film Dog Town.

他以青铜为核心媒介，深耕东方古典文脉，分四大创作系列：《搜山记》重构神话神魔形成反差叙事；马、猿系列借瑞兽寄托青云、隐逸寓意；《卧游》溯源宗炳山水观，融合庄子鲲鹏意象；另有狮、麂、灵猫等小众生灵雕塑。造型吸收传统线性塑造与彩绘技法，形体简约舒展、气韵灵动，以国潮学院风格打通古典意象与当代审美，借动物载体抒发澄怀观道、自在超脱的精神内核。

Working mainly in bronze, his creation draws deeply from traditional Chinese culture with four core series. Mountain Search reinterprets mythical demons with contrasting imagery; horse and ape sculptures symbolize ambition and hermitage; the Wandering in Mind series inherits ancient landscape aesthetics and Zhuangzi’s Kunpeng philosophy. His other works feature lions, muntjacs and cats. Adopting classical linear modeling and colored finishing, his streamlined, vivid forms blend academic contemporary aesthetics with traditional oriental spirit. Using animal motifs, he expresses a detached, tranquil state of spiritual contemplation.
